The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) of the U.S. Department of Labor is the principal federal statistical agency responsible for measuring labor market activity, working conditions, and price changes in the economy. Its mission is to collect, analyze, and disseminate essential economic information to support public and private decision-making.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining BLS, Dr. Groshen was a Vice President in the Research and Statistics Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Her research has focused on labor markets over the business cycle, wage rigidity and dispersion, regional economics, the male-female wage differential, and the role of employers in labor market outcomes. She also served on advisory boards for BLS and the U.S. Census Bureau.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Groshen has also served as an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, a visiting assistant professor of economics at Barnard College at Columbia University and a visiting economist at the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland. Dr. Groshen earned a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University and a bachelor\u2019s degree in economics and mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Please RSVP to <a href=\"mailto:msabrin@ramapo.edu\">msabrin@ramapo.edu<\/a> by October 20.<\/h4>\n<p><div class=\"infoBox col-sm-12 col-lg-12 \"><div class=\"boxTitle\">In Memory of Sebastian J. One of the founding faculty \u2014 he arrived in Â鶹´«Ã½\u00a0College\u2019s second year \u2014 he held various posts during his tenure including director of the\u00a0School of Metropolitan and Community Studies, dean of the School of Administration and\u00a0Business, vice president for Academic Affairs, vice president of Institutional Advancement and\u00a0professor of economics. He was also the director of the Governor\u2019s School for International\u00a0Studies, a summer program for gifted high school students. In his administrative roles,\u00a0he helped design new academic programs, raised funds to support new initiatives and\u00a0scholarships and recruited new faculty.
